Ballyhoe 1 update

07/07/2014 18:14

Again Ballyhoe 1 saw quite a few anglers this last week with most looking for specimen tench and bream , although on the 2 days i spent on it i saw a good few  tench caught , none reached the 6lb required to reach specimen weight

Jock was there again with his clan and after a slow start and a rethink on hook baits and tactics he eventually started getting a few ,  he came of his prebaited area and adopted carp tactics with bright pop up mini bollies tied to pellet filled pva bags which soon saw him getting off the mark

Mick from Dublin also graced us with his presence and again managed a few during his stay

I spent my session soley after the pike determined to catch one of the real big girls that i know hunt afterthe shoals of perch but things were slow enough on roach and mackeral but a change to popped up perch bought a flurry of runs

Nothing into double figures except for one very large fish on the last evening which after a hard fight managed to get under the shelf and leave me solidly stuck there , he was long gone by the time i got my rig back but he had already showed himself by tailwalking several times and ive no dought this fish was a good twenty , gutted ......

Anyways the craic was good as was the company and dont forget Ballyhoe 1 will be closed from 6 pm this Friday the 11th till 9am Monday  the 14th of July due to preparations for the clubs annual vintage and fun day on the Sunday the 13 th

All proceeds made from the day will be used in the upgrading of the five lakes over the coming year and will enable the opening up of many new swims around the lakes so feel free to come along and bring the kids who get in free by the way , the club welcomes your support

I will leave you with a few pics of the Jock fella and his kids who loved every minute of there stay ........ tight lines
